A-SETS INFUSION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

THE SAFE CONNECTION FOR TIVA, OBSTETRIC INFUSIONS, DIABETES AND PATIENT CONTROLLED ANALGESIA

A-Sets incorporate a number of features to enhance patient safety

A-Sets allow pumped drug infusions to be given to the patient through normally closed, anti free-flow (anti syphonage) valves. The system allows Intravenous fluids to be given simultaneously via the same connector. The fluid limb of the set incorporates a low resistance, normally open valve that closes under back pressure, thus eliminating hidden storage of pumped drugs with venous occlusion

  • Anti free-flow valves on pump limbs prevents drug syphonage

  • Non-return valves on all limbs prevents drug backing up in wrong line

  • Line clamps on extension limbs stops accidental bolusing during syringe change

  • Kink resistant integral braiding in gravity line keeps drip flowing freely

  • Produced in newly developed lipid resistant plastics ideal for propofol

  • Fully rotating male Luer hub for ease of connection

  • Latex free

A fully valved system

Using pumps to deliver drugs can be dangerous. The MHRA recommend using a connector system with anti free-flow valves and line clamps when delivering drugs via syringe pumps or volumetric pumps. The MHRA list an anti free-flow device as the most important safety feature of such systems (MDA DB2003 02).

Integral Kink resistant Gravity Line

This important feature prevents occlusion of the fluid drip, ensuring that the drugs are flushed through the patient’s venous circulation. A-Sets can be secured to the patient’s limb without fear of obstruction due to kinking.

Lipid resistant plastics

Lipids may cause breakdown of plastics used in drug delivery systems. All components of A- Sets that may come into contact with Lipids are made from Lipid resistant plastic, reducing the risk of plasticizers entering the blood stream and connector malfunction.

Drug adsorption resistant lining

Drugs can be adsorbed onto the plastics that connector systems are made of. All drug delivery limbs of A-Sets are lined with polyethylene thus preventing drug adsorption.

Negligible common fluid space

A-Sets have minimal common fluid space,in which drugs can combine or react.

Fully rotating luer connector

The Luer connector which connects to the patient cannula is fully rotating thus preventing “Line Spaghetti”.

Line Clamps

Temporarily closing the extension limb with the line clamp during syringe changes as recommended by the MHRA prevents accidental bolus administration of drugs.
